We are always keen to welcome new members into our society. Our members cover a wide range of musical experience, from enthusiastic beginners to seasoned performers. Previous experience of singing in German is a bonus, as we often sing Bach's work in the original German, but this is by no means required. The EBS membership year runs from the beginning of September until our summer concert of the following year (in this case, 11th May 2013). The choir rehearses on Thursday evenings 7-9pm, at Kalendar Hall, South Street, Exeter. The 2012/2013 season will feature three major concerts and several cantatas, among other arranged events. Our Autumn performance of Handel's Messiah was well-received, and we look forward to our Spring concert, where we will be singing a slightly abbreviated version of Bach's famous St Matthew Passion in the original German. Our Summer concert will be in early May 2013, featuring madrigals and motets. If you would like to sing with us, please download and complete the application form and email a copy to Gill Manning. After a few weeks there will be a short voice assessment. The annual membership subscription for 2012/2013 is £60, with a reduced fee of £15 for younger members (under 30), payable after the voice assessment. If you don't want to become a member but would like to support the society in other ways, have you considered becoming a friend? |
