Assistant Director of Music: John Pearce John Pearce was a Choral Scholar at Magdalen College, Oxford; then went into the teaching profession (Geography). However he kept singing seriously in the Louis Halsey Singers; the Monteverdi Choir (for 20 years); the Corydon Singers; and the New London Chamber Choir; as well as deputising in many London churches. With all these he made numerous broadcasts, tours and recordings. He also sang solo in many oratorios, and was 'The Fool' in the Corydon Singers’ recording of Vaughan-Williams' 'Hugh The Drover'. For 12 years John directed two choirs associated with Bancroft's School in NE London - the Bancroft's Singers (school chamber choir) and the Crofton Singers (adult chamber choir) - and found it very satisfying, especially introducing teenagers to C16th music, which they loved. John and his wife Carol retired down to Budleigh Salterton in 2008 |
